The Biology Department offers you the best of both educational worlds: a demanding academic program within the context of a nurturing environment. The department's exceptional student-to-faculty ratio ensures that you will receive individual attention from professors who are well qualified in their field and genuinely interested in your progress. Meantime, the department's innovative, rigorous, and broad-ranging programs will prepare you for a wide variety of career paths and graduate school options.
The University offers baccalaureate-level programs (BA or BS) in biology, human biology, and life science teaching and an associate program (AS) in biology. Students have the option of concentrating in cell and molecular biology or in science and technical writing.
The department stresses liberal arts skills―writing, analyzing, critical thinking―that are necessary for success in any career. Laboratory classes provide experience with up-to-date instruments and the skills needed by students entering the modern biotechnology industry.
Our recent graduates have become dentists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, physicians, university professors, research scientists, and teachers, and they have gone into numerous other professions.
